Encompassing painting, installation, video and live performance, the formal diversity of Oli Sorenson’s artistic practice is unified by a supermodern concern for remixing visual cultures. His mercurial career is founded on a rejection of the delineations between creative media, and represents the art of a generation fluent in the language of the multi.

In his moving image work, Sorenson plays with de- and re- constructed narratives in the context of a contemporary environment of unprecedented visual noise, using editing as a creative act.

With a practice questioning authorship as much as narrative structures, Sorenson has shown internationally, in venues such as Millennium Museum (Beijing), Media Art Institute (Amsterdam) and ZKM (Karlsruhe). His live performances are regularly seen in London, between Tate Britain, The Institute of Contemporary Art and The British Film Institute, as well as within international media art festivals including ISEA (Helsinki and Nagoya), Mapping Festival (Geneva) and MAF (Bankok).

Born in Los Angeles, Oli Sorenson completed a BFA and a Master’s of Interactive Media Arts at Universite du Quebec, Montreal. He has lived and worked in London between 1999 and 2010.
