CAPITALOCENE?
Building on the previous Anthropocene series of works and exhibitions, which examined the ecological impact of human activity through an array of paintings, digital prints and videos, Capitalocene? turns to the economic system that underlies this era. Disputing the homogenization of humanity within a single category, Capitalocene is a term refutiing the equal attribution of responsibility for the impacts of an economic system predicated on unequal distribution of power. Capitalocene? ponders instead on a much smaller subset of humanity: the so-called 1%, whose choices and lifestyles drive anthropogenic climate change and who are nonetheless largely sheltered from its impacts. Avoiding didacticism in favour of critical engagement, the new framing of this art production asks a question, invites viewers to reflect on their own responsibility and complicity, and to find answers in their own terms.

CAPITALOCENE?
En s'appuyant sur les précédentes séries d'œuvres et d'expositions nomées Anthropocène, examinant l'impact écologique de l'activité humaine à travers un éventail de peintures, d'impressions numériques et de vidéos, Capitalocene? se tourne maintenant vers le système économique qui sous-tend cette époque. Contestant l'homogénéisation de l'humanité au sein d'une seule catégorie, Capitalocène ? est un terme qui réfute l’attribution égale des responsabilité pour les impacts d'un système économique, fondé sur une répartition inégale des pouvoirs. Capitalocène ? s'interroge plutôt sur un sous-ensemble beaucoup plus restreint de l'humanité : le soi-disant 1 %, dont les choix et les modes de vie sont à l'origine du changement climatique anthropique mais qui sont néanmoins largement à l'abri de ses impacts. Évitant le didactisme au profit de l'engagement critique, le nouveau cadrage de cette production artistique pose une question, invite les spectateurs à réfléchir sur leur propre responsabilité et complicité envers ces enjeux, et à trouver des réponses dans leurs propres mots.
