Post Halley
EN - I have long been an aficionado of New York artist Peter Halley, but I have equally been frustrated of the direction of his later pieces, which seem to lack the intellectual rigor of his early career. Although the bulk of my work involves appropriation art, I have so far hesitated to produce or even show my suggestions to Halley on how to take his work further, and out of its current iconographic impasse. After much deliberation however, I now believe the time has come for these works, produced over my years, to come out of the closet.
FR - Depuis longtemps je suis un aficionado de l'artiste New Yorkais Peter Halley, mais par contre j'ai été plutot frustré de la direction de ses plus récentes pièces, qui me semblent manquer de rigueur intellectuelle à comparer de celles en début de carrière. Bien que la majeure partie de mon travail se résume à une série d'appropriations, j'ai honnètement hésité à produire ou même diffuser mes suggestions de façons pour Halley d'aller plus loin dans son travail, et de sortir de son impasse iconographique actuelle. Après de longues délibérations cependant, je crois maintenant que le moment est venu sortir ces œuvres, produites au cours de plusieurs années, de leur placard.
